Scientific research is fueling important global developments in the areas of water, wastewater and hazardous waste. Two of the most exciting scientific developments include advanced ozonation processes for inactivating Cryptosporidium, and membrane filtration for a wide range of water treatment goals, including turbidity, microbial and organic substances removal. Spearheading Science As a world leader in environmental engineering, MWH has spearheaded important scientific research in the areas of water, wastewater and industrial waste treatment for a diverse group of clients since 1983. MWH has conducted research in Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Netherlands and New Zealand. In the United States, we have partnered with such organizations as the American Water Works Association Research Foundation and the City of San Diego's AQUA 2000 Research Center. Renowned for Research MWH is a recognized leader in the latest water treatment testing and demonstration capabilities. We are particularly renowned for our award-winning membrane filtration and ozonation process research. The results are expected to significantly impact the global water industry. Our scientific achievements are a result of our talented Applied Research Department's expertise and extensive experience. Most are scientists, engineers and technicians with advanced degrees in subjects like environmental and civil engineering; microbiology; chemistry; and environmental sciences. They also enjoy close working relationships with faculty members at major universities across the United States and Canada. Experts in their field, our research staff has published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals and proceedings of technical conferences. They've given more than 100 presentations at regional, national and international technical conferences. And their work has been honored by the American Consulting Engineers Council, among others. These white papers and technical presentations include the following topics:
