Environmental Planning, Permitting and Compliance

Hydrogeological, Geochemical and Water Quality Services

Mine Water Supply, Management and Treatment

Development of a comprehensive mine water management strategy is key to development of any new natural resource deposit or maintaining the social licence to continuing operations at existing mining sites.  Therefore, MWH has development specific compentencies in all aspects of mine water management.  These include design, construction, and operation of systems for water supply,  wastewater treatment, dewatering  storage and transmission of water as well as management and treatment of mine drainage and mill process water.  MWH can analyze water management options and wastewater treatment requirements, and design, construct, start-up, and optimize a management/treatment system based on the unique factors of each site.  Drainage control projects such as diversion channels, collection ponds, and collection/recovery systems are designed with the aid of state-of-the-industry computer software.  These integrated services result in cost-effective and well-designed alternatives for the operational, closure, and post-closure phases of a mining project.  Service highlights include the following.

Civil and Geotechnical Infrastructure Development

MWH is known and trusted for our ability to design, construct, and complete world-class geotechnical and civil projects on-time and in some of the most complex situations and locations in the world.  Our experience includes designing and managing construction for a 280-meter tall tailings dam in a highly seismic area in Peru to engineering certification and construction quality assurance for one of the most environmentally challenging leach pad developments in the USA.  In addition, we can provide comprehensive civil and geotechnical infrastructure development services under a design/build approach or as an integrated management team with our client.  MWH provides dedicated engineers for the duration of a project, from initial geotechnical investigations and completion of final design reports to field construction and implementation.  In many cases, lead design engineers are also involved with the construction quality assurance and construction management aspects of the project to maximize quality contractor performance.  The following highlights our civil and geotechnical service offerings.
