Looking for a qualified water/wastewater laboratory service? Consider these factors first.

The laboratory should have full-service capabilities and expertise. This will ensure one-stop shopping for superior analytical services. The staff should adhere to the highest quality standards so you receive legally defensible data. Finally, the laboratory should feature an automated data management system. This will reduce report preparation time, errors and costs.

More than 30 Years

MWH can handle all your water/wastewater analysis needs. For more than 30 years, we have operated an accredited, award-winning laboratory. It is the only commercial lab with in-house capabilities for full service chemical and specialized radiochemical analysis, along with microbiology and asbestos. Each month, the laboratory conducts about 10,000 individual analyses, representing more than 50,000 compounds.

For three consecutive years, Environmental Laboratory has rated our laboratory first in employee productivity and among the top 20 in the United States in terms of revenue.

MWH clientele includes more than 100 of the largest municipalities in the United States – as well as hundreds of utilities, engineering firms, laboratories and private industries throughout the world. To help our clients comply with existing and upcoming regulations, MWH Laboratories has recently moved into a new facility with nearly 25,000 square feet of laboratory space along with more than US $2 million of advanced instrumentation.

Quality Performance

We're known for our strict eye towards quality. In fact, MWH has the only commercial laboratory in California to score above 95 percent in Water Supply (WS) and Water Pollution (WP) performance evaluation samples for more than six years. That's well above industry average.

To achieve these high standards, we employ a highly trained lab staff. These employees include more than 50 Ph.D.-, Master- and Bachelor-level scientists trained in chemistry and microbiology. Together, our staff has more than 200 years of combined experience in drinking water/wastewater analysis and regulatory issues. These scientists work in full compliance with the OSHA Chemical Hygiene Plan and California SB198.

Nearly 20 years ago, MWH developed one of the industry's first Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). This relational database has been continuously enhanced over the years. It links quality control, history, trending, custom reports and electronic deliverables right at our clients' fingertips.

Wide Array of Services

MWH delivers a broad range of consistently high-quality specialized water and wastewater tests that analyze:

  • Disinfection byproducts
  • Microbiology
  • Organics and inorganics
  • Asbestos
  • Radioactivity

MWH's laboratory specializes in low-level analyses for drinking water regulations and wastewater. These analyses are not compromised by analysis of contaminated hazardous waste samples.

Our laboratory staff strives to provide extra value to clients. For example, a standard potable water organic test requires 126 compounds. We report more than 200. Our specialized tests go far beyond the industry's standard water quality work.

MWH's capabilities include:

  • Field sampling/screening
  • Treatability/stabilization studies
  • Treatability/stabilization studies
  • Data validation/review
  • Laboratory QA audits
  • Laboratory design/planning
  • Laboratory startup/contract operation
  • Information management services
  • QA program development/review
  • LIMS evaluation/implementation
