"Supporting a Growing City's Future Needs" How can a large municipal utility in the southeastern United States better service its growing customer base? MWH and The Haskell Company are helping the Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) with this effort. The two companies have formed the Haskell MWH joint venture to provide design-build services on the US $8.4 million, 25-mgd Highlands Water Treatment Plant upgrade in Jacksonville, Florida. JEA is the eighth largest municipal utility in the United States. It provides electricity, water and wastewater service to more than 600,000 accounts in the metropolitan area. Jacksonville is the nation's largest city by area. JEA's water system consists of 98 artesian wells tapping the Florida Aquifer. Water is distributed through 32 water treatment plants and 2,800 miles of water lines.
