MWH has been honored in a number of ways. Following are just a few of the company’s awards and milestones from the last year:

DM Review
The DM Review, a prestigious business industry publication, awarded MWH the ‘2003 World Class Solutions Award’ for the innovative implementation of its KnowledgeNet/KNet knowledge management system.

Associated General Contractors of America (AGC)
MWH earned the AGC’s ‘2003 Construction Safety Excellence Award’ in the category of Construction Management for exceeding the AGC’s safety program criteria.

Computerworld Magazine
MWH was named a member of 2002 Computerworld Honors Online Archive on Information Technology. The company was recognized for its development of MWH KnowledgeNet, a corporate-wide knowledge management network, and KNet, a knowledge management portal.

Engineering News Record

Every year, Engineering News Record (ENR), releases three source-books ranking top design, contractor and construction firms around the world based on the previous year’s revenue. MWH is consistently ranked among the top firms and continues to be one of the leading engineering firms in the world.

Awards

Industry Recognition

In recognition of business excellence and commitment to community involvement, MWH received ColoradoBiz magazine’s 2006 Top Company award, an honor that’s considered one of Colorado’s most prestigious business awards.

American Water Works Association (AWWA) Florida Section awarded MWH’s client, the City of Cape Coral, the Show of Excellenceaward in the Efficiency with Alternative Water Supply category for its Utility Expansion Program. MWH is currently working as the program manager for this expansion.

The Association of Project Management recently named MWH’s Iraq Reconstruction Project “OverseasProject of theYear”. The complex wastewater treatment project was completed using MWH designers in Jordan, the US, the UK and local Iraqis on-site.

MWH won a coveted Utility Industry Achievement Award for our integration of IT systems for its 4Delivery Ltd. (4D) joint venture with Costain and United Utilities. MWH provided the IT design, implementation and support for all the offices and program management systems. Judges’ comments described the solution as “impressive, flexible, radical and innovative.”

The United Kingdom’s Energy Institute presented the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority with the International Platinum Award for the Ghazi-Barotha Hydropower project. MWH played a large part in the completion of this $2 billion project as a member of the Pakistan Hydro. Consultants (PHC) joint venture team. The project received the International Platinum Award for strategic innovation, return on investment and setting the standard for energy industry excellence.

MWH was selected as one of the Excellent Consulting Organizations in the water industry of China for its first-class consulting work in 2006 – the second time MWH has received this award. Only seven foreign and local water and wastewater consulting firms in China were selected for the awards during the 2007 Urban Water Sector Strategic Forum held in Beijing.

Northumbrian Water Ltd, which provides water and wastewater service to 2.6 million people in northeast England, honored MWH as Most Improved Contractor in Health and Safety for a 5-year pump station program. The award is based on criteria of the UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

The UK's Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents selected MWH for the 2007 Occupational Health and Safety Gold award for the fourth consecutive year. RoSPA is a registered charity in England dedicated to providing information, advice, resources and training to promote safety and the prevention of accidents at work and at home.

MWH won the 2007 Overseas Project of the Year Award from the UK’s Association of Project Management for the Capacity Building Programme for the Iraq Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works. The project, commissioned by the U.S. Air Force Centre for Environmental Excellence, required international coordination and management of teams in offices on three different continents to improve the lives of Iraqis following years of conflict and loss of essential public health facilities.

Project Awards

The American Water Works Association Florida Section presented the City of Cape Coral the Show of Excellence Award for Efficiency with Alternative Water Supply for its Utility Expansion Program. MWH is the program manager for this expansion. The City and MWH also received a national safety award from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration for highly successful safety programs implemented for the program.

The Cape Coral utility expansion program team was honored by MWH Global Chairman Murli Tolaney with the CEO’s Grand Award for Extraordinary Contribution, which recognizes project team, technological or individual achievements.

The MWH-Goleta Water District design-build team was presented a special CEO Award for Exceptional Partnership in Sustainable Design and Construction for their work on the Corona Del Mar Water Treatment Plant Upgrades and Modifications Project which reduced energy and water use, met LEED Gold certification standards and used renewable and recycled building materials.

MWH was awarded the 2007 Certificate of Recognition for the Warragamba and Nepean Deep Water Recovery Project in Australia. Sponsored by Leighton Contractors, the award honors originality, innovation, quality of engineering, client satisfaction, benefit to the community and value to the profession.

The Engineering Australia Sydney Division presented MWH and Kyogle City Council with the Highly Commended Engineering Excellence Award for 2007 for the Kyogle Integrated Water Cycle Management Strategy Study.

MWH received the 2007 Eminent Conceptor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Illinois and the Grand Conceptor Award from the national ACEC organization for the Montgomery Point Lock and Dam (USACE Little Rock District).

The Environmental System Research Institute awarded the City of Cleveland, Ohio the prestigious 2007 Special Achievement in GIS Award for the City’s GIS system that was implemented by the MWH team. The award is given to organizations that use GIS to improve the world and set precedents for GIS use.

The North American Society for Trenchless Technology and Trenchless Technology Magazine honored the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District with the Rehabilitation Project of the Year Award for an innovative cured-in-place sewer rehabilitation project designed by MWH.

MWH won the New Zealand Engineering Excellence Award for electrical and systems work on the remote Wainikasou power project, the first major renewable energy project to be built in Fiji in more than 25 years.

MWH won the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority’s Genesis Energy Commercial/Services Award for its energy-efficient groundwater heat-pump solution for New Zealand’s Dunedin Airport.

Rio Tinto Iron Ore and MWH won the Western Australia Department of Water’s 2007 Management of Water Resources (Commercial) Award for its innovative Yandicoogina Junction South East Re-injection Project. The project, which injects surplus water into the aquifer, is part of a program to reduce RTIO’s environmental footprint through sustainable water management solutions.

Franklin: the Centre, a new cultural and community centre designed by MWH, won the New Zealand Institute of Architects-Auckland Local Award for sustainable design.

MWH won awards of merit at the Association of Consulting Engineers New Zealand for the Te Maunga Wastewater Treatment Plant Bioreactor Upgrade and the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant Dissolved Oxygen Control.

MWH won the New Zealand Sport and Recreation Commission’s national Push Play Participation Award for Cycle-Friendly Commitment by Business for its high level of involvement in the 2007 BikeWise Business Battle (seven offices, 14,656 kms) and subsequent use of the prize money to purchase shared-pool bikes and develop programs that encourage cycling and sustainability.

Brisbane City Council, MWH and its partners won the 2007 High Commendation Environmental Award from Engineers Australia for the Oxley Creek Water Reclamation Plant expansion and upgrade which reduces waste and promotes reuse through process improvements, recycling and cogeneration.
